Position: Automotive Sales Manager

Reports to: General Sales Manager, Dealer Principal

Qualifications:

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead Your Team to Meet All Sales Objectives: The primary responsibility is to lead and motivate your sales team to achieve all sales objectives, such as sales targets and quotas.

  2. Coach Each Sales Professional to Excel in Their Position: Provide guidance and coaching to help your team members improve their sales skills and performance.

  3. Guide Customers as They Appear on the Lot to Proceed into the Sales Process: Assist customers when they arrive at the dealership and guide them through the sales process.

  4. Assist Customers in Finding a Vehicle That Meets Their Needs: Use current inventory sheets to help customers find a vehicle that matches their requirements.

  5. Assist Customers in the Completion of Their Sales Applications: Help customers with the necessary paperwork and documentation during the sales process.

  6. Assist Management to Increase Sales: Work with management to identify and address any issues or improvements needed to boost sales.

  7. Inspect the Lot’s Vehicles and Report Problems to the General Manager: Regularly check the condition of vehicles on the lot and report any issues to the General Manager.

  8. Ensure the Lot Is Merchandised Correctly to Maximize Sales: Organize and display vehicles in a way that enhances their appeal and maximizes sales potential.

  9. Maintain Customer Satisfaction Scores at or Above Company and Manufacturer Standards: Ensure that customers have a positive experience, as reflected in satisfaction scores.

  10. Suggest Optional Equipment for Customers to Purchase: Offer additional features or upgrades to customers to enhance their vehicle.

  11. Communicate Sales Price, Including Tax, Trade-In Allowance, and Discount: Clearly and accurately convey pricing details to customers.

  12. Complete Necessary Dealership and Manufacturer Paperwork Accompanying Vehicle Sales: Ensure that all required paperwork and documentation are completed accurately.

  13. Research Availability of Models and Options Equipment: Stay informed about the availability of different vehicle models and optional equipment.

  14. Engage in Business Development: Explore opportunities for expanding the dealership's sales and customer base.

  15. Address Customer Concerns: Responsively address any issues or concerns raised by customers.

  16. Follow Dealership and Manufacturer Rules and Regulations: Adhere to all relevant rules, regulations, and policies set by the dealership and manufacturer.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 

Educational: High school diploma or the equivalent. 

Special Skills (i.e., licenses, certifications): Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to sell a minimum quota according to facility standards. Ability to use personal computer applications including word processing and spreadsheet software. Current valid driver’s license and state sales license. 

Must be computer literate, familiar with a smartphone, the internet, send and receive emails, and have proper phone etiquette. 

Physical Demands and Working Conditions: 

The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. Occasionally requires the ability to lift 20 pounds of material. Is potentially exposed to battery acid, gasoline, chemical cleaning materials or other toxic materials commonly found in a motor vehicle dealership. Occasionally, exposed to exhaust fumes or other airborne particles.
